被災地の子供たちにクリスマスプレゼントを届けるプロジェクトを無事に終えることができました。仙台、石巻、南三陸町の旅でした。石巻の保育園と、約９箇所の南三陸町の仮設住宅に届けることができました。南三陸町では、移動中に出会った子供たちに渡したり、帰り道で見つけた保育所でお昼ね中の子供たちの枕元にプレゼントをおいてきたりもしました。最後には、石巻のボランティアセンターで出会った、奥様が保育所にお勤めの方に、残りのプレゼントをたくして、来ました。
子供たちは、サンタたちを見て、とても喜んでくれました。子供たちの目に少しの幸せの光を届けることができ、とても素敵な経験をしました。これからも、出会った方々と連絡を取りながら、サポートを続け、また、訪れたいと思っています。
このプロジェクトに参加してくださった、子供たち、ご両親、ボランティアの皆さん。本当にありがとうございました。被災地は、まだまだサポートが必要です。できることを見つけ、みんなで助け合っていきましょう。
Our project to deliver toys to the children in Tohoku disaster areas was a huge success. During the entire trip we went to Sendai, Ishinomaki and Minami Sanriku-cho. We visited daycare centers in Ishinomaki and about nine temporary housing areas in Minami Sanriku-cho. Additionally, we stopped as we were driving and gave presents to children we met along the way, gave presents to three children who were sleeping at another remote daycare we found and last we gave a few remaining presents to a local volunteer center to distribute to children with whom they have connections.
The children were so happy to see Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves and get Christmas presents. It was such a great experience to bring joy to them and see the happiness in their eyes. We will continue to stay in contact with some of the people from the areas we visited and plan on going back again in the future.
Thank you to all the people who helped organize this project, all the parents and volunteers who helped make presents and to everyone who supported us through the entire trip. The disaster areas really need more support. Let’s all work together and try and find ways that we all can support those areas in need.
